The assembly was hosted the 16th of September near FSJD’s headquarters in Barcelona to perform a follow up of the project and define next steps
The first SPIOMET4HEALTH project General Assembly took place in a hybrid format in Barcelona (Spain) and online on 16 September 2021. It was hosted by Fundació Sant Joan de Déu (FSJD)/ Hospital Sant Joan de Déu (HSJD) as project coordinators, with the attendance of representatives of the 17 partners involved in the project consortium.
The European project SPIOMET4HEALTH was launched in April 2021 and is funded by the European Union’s Horizon 2020 Framework Programme for Research and Innovation (agreement no. 899671) and will run until 2026.
The project aims to provide a novel treatment for adolescent and young adult women with Polycystic Ovarian Syndrome (PCOS). The challenge is to test the new treatment proposed by SPIOMET4HEALTH in a phase II clinical trial in different centres in Spain, Austria, Norway, Italy, Denmark and Turkey.
About the General Assembly
The partners of the project consortium met at the first General Assembly with the main objective of performing a follow up of the project, showing the main advances and defining the next steps to achieve the success of this initiative.
The day’s programme started with a welcome by Dr Lourdes Ibáñez, coordinator (HSJD) of the SPIOMET4HEALTH project.

The Work Package (WP) leaders then gave presentations on their latest status and progress: Fundació Sant Joan de Déu, University Of Witten/Herdcke, Outcomes’10, Optimapharm, Reig Jofre, Zabala Innovation and Asphalion.
The project group has made significant progress in the preparation of the clinical trial to be developed in this project. The different WPs are preparing all the elements to start recruitment in April 2022.

Strategies and procedures have also been improved to ensure a correct interaction between all the WPs. A total of 6 deliverables have been submitted to the European Commission to assess the progress made.
The first General Assembly was successfully and fruitfully concluded. All partners were encouraged to continue the positive dialogue that has taken place since the start of the project and to work towards achieving the ambitious project objectives.
