On Sunday, December 17th, the Marató de 3Cat was celebrated once again to raise funds for medical research in specific areas. SPIOMET4HEALTH is proud to have been part of this new edition dedicated to sexual and reproductive health, featuring an interesting conversation about Polycystic Ovary Syndrome (PCOS) with the participation of Paula Romero, a participant in the clinical trial, and Dr. Lourdes Ibáñez, the project coordinator.
During the dialogue, Paula shared her personal journey from the initial symptoms that alerted her to the presence of PCOS in her life, such as irregular and painful periods and abdominal inflammation. A process marked by questions about diagnosis and treatment.
Throughout her journey, Paula received up to eight different treatments (including hormonal and contraceptive therapies) that led to constant physical and emotional ups and downs. Getting out of this cycle was what motivated her participation in the clinical trial of SPIOMET4HEALTH. “It has been a radical change for me,” she shared during the conversation with 3Cat.
The revolutionary approach of SPIOMET4HEALTH is based on consolidating multiple medications into a single pill. “It’s a three-in-one,” explains Dr. Ibáñez, “to tackle the cause of the disorder: excess fat in the viscera that triggers a reaction in the ovary.” This innovative approach distances itself from the more widespread approach of addressing the aesthetic manifestations of PCOS, such as excess hair or acne, and instead seeks substantial improvement in the health and well-being of women with PCOS and, when applicable, in the development of their pregnancies.
SPIOMET4HEALTH’s participation in La Marató de 3Cat highlights its commitment to innovation in medical research and its dedication to improving the quality of life for women facing Polycystic Ovary Syndrome.
