Dr. Pernille Ravn’s team wins ‘Enthusiast of the Year’ Award for the SPIOMET4HEALTH clinical trial on PCOS
In an exciting event that brought together over 200 healthcare professionals and industry leaders, the SPIOMET4HEALTH project emerged victorious at the prestigious Denmark’s Best Clinical Trials and Testing Awards 2023. Led by Dr Pernille Ravn, SPIOMET4HEALTH principal investigator in Denmark, the exceptional team, comprising Maria Stevenson, Rikke M. Henriksen, Bente S. Hansen and Line Elberg Lorenzen, was honored with the title of “Enthusiast of the Year”. This recognition reaffirms the project’s unwavering passion and tireless efforts in driving the advancement of clinical trials and Polycystic Ovary Syndrome (PCOS).

Hosted by Medicoindustrien in collaboration with renowned organizations including Danske Patienter, Dansk Selskab for Fysioterapi, and Trial Nation, the event served as a momentous occasion to honor the outstanding individuals and teams who have made significant contributions to the field of clinical trials. Among the 85 remarkable initiatives nominated for various accolades, SPIOMET4HEALTH stood out for its remarkable impact on patients and citizens in Denmark.

During the event, Sophie Løhde, Minister of the Interior and Health from the Venstre, Danmarks Liberale Parti, delivered the keynote speech and highlighted the need for even better environments to ensure more clinical trials of medical devices and drug testing. This way, citizens and patients can increasingly benefit from modern technologies and innovative treatment solutions.

Clinical trial for a novel treatment of PCOS
SPIOMET4HEALTH is a European project conducting a clinical trial to test a novel treatment for Polycystic Ovary Syndrome (PCOS), involving the participation of seven hospitals from six European countries: Spain, Austria, Denmark, Italy, Norway, and Turkey. The project is coordinated by Hospital Sant Joan de Déu in Barcelona (Spain) and funded by the European Commission. Odense University Hospital (OUH) is conducting the clinical trial for PCOS in Denmark, with Dr. Pernille Ravn as the principal investigator.
Nowadays, the Danish site is actively seeking young women who:
- Are between 17 and 23 years old
- Experience irregular menstrual periods
- Have excess body hair
